Job Description


The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing moderately complex client portfolios in accordance with investment policy guidelines while supporting a high-quality and consistent client experience. This role works closely with senior advisors and investment professionals to conduct portfolio reviews, develop investment recommendations, and support clients’ long-term investment objectives.

The Portfolio Manager also supports the direction, training, and development of associate team members through collaboration, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance. This role contributes to and may lead the successful execution of team and firm-wide strategic initiatives.

Technical Competencies ("What"):

  • Serve as the investment specialist for simple to moderately complex client relationships, delivering portfolio guidance and supporting a high-quality client experience.
  • Construct and monitor client portfolios, including working with Trader to implement investment strategies such as tax-sensitive portfolio transitions, tax-efficient rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and adherence to investment strategy guidelines.
  • Educate clients on investment philosophy, portfolio construction, and investment processes, including conducting Investment Policy Statement (IPS) meetings and portfolio reviews.
  • Perform investment research and develop recommendations related to asset allocation, factor allocation, fund selection, benchmarking, and portfolio construction.
  • Monitor portfolio allocations and rebalancing activity, helping ensure alignment with investment objectives and target portfolio strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Wealth Advisors and internal tax, estate, and financial planning specialists to deliver integrated investment guidance and client service.
  • Produce quarterly and ad hoc portfolio reports, analyses, and investment-related materials to support client service needs and investment decision-making.
  • Participate in Investment Committee activities, contributing research, reporting, analysis, and investment recommendations.
  • Develop client communication and educational materials related to investment philosophy, portfolio management, market topics, and investment strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the investment management industry, including experience advising clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capital markets, portfolio construction, and passive investment strategies.
  • Ability to coordinate across teams and manage internal processes, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adaptability in a changing industry.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer and occasional periods sitting.
  • May have to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Minimal travel required. Frequent attendance at internal meetings required.
  • Occasional attendance at meeting with outside partners.
  • Travel outside the region may be required for business and/or professional development.
