Job Description
We are a fast-growing, privately held holding company with a portfolio of high-growth operating companies in the healthcare space. With approximately 250 employees across multiple entities — and growing — the organization is investing in its HR infrastructure to support the next stage of expansion. This is a newly created role for a hands-on HR generalist who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment and enjoys building rather than maintaining.
The HR Manager will serve as the central HR resource across the enterprise, partnering with an experienced Payroll Manager and coordinating with team members who provide day-to-day HR support within individual operating companies. This role owns benefits and 401(k) administration, policy development, and HR compliance, while flexing into whatever the business needs next. If you want a role where no two days look alike and your work is visible to leadership, this is it.
Key ResponsibilitiesBenefits & Retirement Administration
- Administer group health, dental, vision, life, disability, and ancillary benefit plans across multiple entities, including enrollments, terminations, QLEs, and carrier/broker relationships.
- Lead annual open enrollment end to end — plan comparison and renewal support, employee communications, system setup, and enrollment processing.
- Administer the 401(k) plan, including enrollments, deferral changes, employer contributions, loans, and distributions, in coordination with the recordkeeper and payroll.
- Manage the annual 401(k) audit and Form 5500 filing process, serving as primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring timely, accurate completion.
- Ensure benefits compliance, including ACA reporting, COBRA, ERISA notices, and nondiscrimination testing.
Policies, Procedures & Compliance
- Develop, standardize, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks across the portfolio of companies.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.) and keep leadership informed of regulatory changes affecting the business.
- Administer leaves of absence, workers' compensation, and accommodation requests.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data integrity in partnership with payroll.
Generalist & Employee Support
- Act as a trusted resource for managers and employees on HR questions, employee relations matters, and performance issues, escalating as appropriate.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes across entities, ensuring a consistent, professional employee experience.
- Partner with entity-level HR support staff to align practices across companies while respecting each business's unique needs.
- Contribute to HR projects tied to growth — new entity integrations, process improvement, HR technology optimization, and whatever else comes up in a scaling business.
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, with hands-on ownership of benefits and 401(k) administration.
- Direct experience supporting or leading a 401(k) audit strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law and benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, ERISA).
- Experience in a multi-entity, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environment strongly preferred — comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities is essential.
- Strong HRIS/payroll system skills; ADP Workforce Now experience a plus.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves work style: equally comfortable setting strategy and processing an enrollment form.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
