Position Title: K–8 Multimedia, Technology & Library Teacher
Status: Part-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Principal
Position OverviewVisitation Catholic School seeks a passionate and innovative Part-Time Multimedia, Technology & Library Teacher to lead our K–8 students in developing the technology, information literacy, research, media, and digital citizenship skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century.
This position combines technology instruction, library programming, media literacy, and research skills while fostering a love of reading and inquiry. The teacher will create engaging learning experiences that help students become responsible digital citizens, critical thinkers, effective communicators, creative problem-solvers, and lifelong learners.
The Multimedia, Technology & Library Teacher supports the mission of Visitation Catholic School by integrating faith, innovation, and literacy into a comprehensive K–8 program.
Technology & Digital Literacy Instruction- Teach weekly technology classes for students in grades K–8.
- Develop age-appropriate lessons in:
- Keyboarding and computer fundamentals
- Google Workspace and productivity tools
- Coding and computational thinking
- Multimedia creation and digital storytelling
- Artificial intelligence literacy and responsible use
- Internet safety and cybersecurity
- Digital citizenship and online responsibility
- Integrate technology skills with classroom curriculum and STREAM initiatives.
- Manage and maintain the school library collection and circulation system.
- Promote a love of reading through library lessons, book talks, reading challenges, and literacy events.
- Assist students in selecting books that support their interests and reading levels.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy instruction and independent reading goals.
- Maintain an engaging library environment that encourages curiosity and exploration.
- Teach students how to:
- Locate and access information effectively
- Evaluate sources for credibility and accuracy
- Conduct age-appropriate research
- Take notes and organize information
- Cite sources appropriately
- Distinguish fact from opinion and misinformation
- Support research projects across all grade levels.
- Guide students in creating:
- Digital presentations
- Podcasts and audio recordings
- Videos and digital storytelling projects
- Graphic design and visual communication projects
- Teach students how to communicate ideas effectively using various media formats.
Requirements: Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Library Science, Educational Technology, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Teaching certification preferred.
- Experience working with elementary and middle school students.
- Strong technology skills and familiarity with educational technology platforms.
- Knowledge of library management, literacy instruction, and information literacy.
- Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Visitation Catholic School.
