Mechanic 2 - Mid-Level Mechanic in Mooresville, North Carolina at Kellymoss

SUMMARY:

The Mechanic II role is a mid-level mechanic position that reports to the Car Chief/Mechanic I. This role is responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of race cars and equipment needed for race events. The cars are customer-owned, so all personnel are to be discreet and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding any trade secrets and/or clientele.

Weekend work and travel is required during the Race Season, December – October.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Changing Tires;

Refueling;

Adjusting aerodynamics;

Checking and repairing parts;

Responsible for loading and unloading the haulers;

Maintaining the cars;

Changing Parts;

Being computer literate preferred: Excel and Office;

Having some sort of race experience is a plus;

Must be able to travel 30-50 percent of the time;

Being adaptable to last minute unexpected/unpredictable changes is a must.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma or GED. Some experience is preferred.
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, and interpret English. The ability to speak and understand a foreign language is a plus. Ability to effectively present information to Team Lead/immediate supervisor.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply basic concepts such as addition, multiplication, subtraction, division.
Computer Skills - IF REQUIRED: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role prefers an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Other Qualifications - Valid driver’s license is required. Passport Preferred. Ability to Travel into Canada.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift 25lbs or more without any restrictions;
Must be able to hold a position that requires strength, flexibility and endurance;
Must be a fast-paced auto mechanic who knows how to or is willing to learn to master a pitstop;
The ability to execute an assigned maintenance or repair task;
Willing to travel 30-50 percent of the time.

While performing the duties of this job: The individual may occasionally operate motorized equipment and machinery. The individual needs to occasionally move about on the track to transport parts, access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order. The individual frequently positions self to operate and repair cars, including underneath and above the equipment. Use of hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. Must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals on and off the track. Able to detect mechanical issues and part defects from short distances and determine what action needs to be taken. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 60 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading various parts and tools required to do the job.

While performing the duties of this job: The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

If required to wear PPE->. Due to exposure to machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.

Low task- Taking parts off, cleaning and accessing them;
Low Maintenance- Taking out trash, sweeping, cleaning bathroom and shop;
Lunch hours- Everyone goes to lunch from 12-1pm;
Team Meeting is exactly at 7am
Day ends at 4pm, unless there’s work to be completed due to a damaged vehicle;
Shortest race around 2 hours; Longest race is around 24 hours (One time a year).

OFF SEASON TESTING: October- December (Car testing and preparation for the next season)
