Job Description
Position SummaryE.R. Services is seeking a Plumbing Apprentice to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role supports experienced plumbing technicians with residential service, repair, and installation work while developing the technical skills and field experience needed to progress within the plumbing trade. The ideal candidate will be dependable, hands-on, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
This position plays an important role in supporting efficient field operations and quality service while learning proper plumbing practices, company procedures, and customer-service standards through hands-on training and mentorship.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Primary Responsibilities

- Assist plumbing technicians with residential plumbing service, repair, maintenance, and installation work.Learn to identify plumbing systems, components, tools, materials, and common service issues through supervised field experience.Prepare work areas, gather materials and tools, and support technicians in completing jobs safely, efficiently, and professionally.Follow technician direction, safety requirements, plumbing standards, and company procedures while building technical knowledge and job readiness.Maintain clean and organized work areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment and help ensure job sites are left clean upon completion.
- Accurately complete assigned training, job documentation, timekeeping, and other required system updates.Assist with loading, unloading, inventory, material handling, and preparation for scheduled service calls and projects.Follow company safety procedures, vehicle policies, work practices, and established service standards.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with customers, technicians, leadership, and other team members.Communicate questions, job-site concerns, safety issues, or customer needs promptly to the supervising technician or manager.Support a collaborative team environment by being dependable, receptive to coaching, and willing to learn.
- Participate actively in on-the-job training, coaching, and assigned technical development opportunities.Demonstrate continued progress in plumbing knowledge, troubleshooting, tool usage, safety, and customer service.Work toward increased responsibility and progression toward a Plumbing Service Technician role based on demonstrated skills, performance, and readiness.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Interest in building a long-term career in the plumbing trade and willingness to participate in hands-on training.
- Prior plumbing, construction, maintenance, mechanical, or other trade experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and willingness to learn and accept coaching.
- Ability to follow instructions, manage assigned tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced field environment.
- Ability to use mobile technology and learn company job-management systems as required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
- Prior experience in plumbing, home services, construction, maintenance, or a related skilled trade.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, basic mechanical systems, or ServiceTitan is a plus.
- Customer-facing or service-industry experience.
- Relevant trade coursework, apprenticeship training, or plumbing-related certifications are a plus.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of experienced technicians while becoming increasingly self-sufficient.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize safety, and adapt to changing job-site needs.
- Positive attitude, accountability, and willingness to receive feedback and coaching.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning plumbing systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools with appropriate training and supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier materials or equipment as needed.Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in job-site environments that may include attics, crawlspaces, confined areas, heat, cold, and other field conditions.Ability to travel to customer locations and job sites as required.
