Position Title: Form Carpenter Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Performs all the essential functions of a Building Group Apprentice
  2. Provides building materials to form carpenters (unless done by Apprentice).
  3. Uses hand, small power, and power actuated tools, as well as light power equipment, to measure and cut new/used lumber according to instructions from the form carpenter during the form building process.
  4. Erects appropriate scaffolding using hand tools.
  5. Assists carpenters with constructing and bracing concrete forms.
  6. Places panels and form units in position preparatory to assembling.
  7. Nails expansion joint material to walls or forms.
  8. “Gauge blocks” edge or wall forms to achieve alignment (i.e., plumb and “straightness”).
  9. Places and ties re-bar.
  10. Sets anchor bolts using string lines as per carpenter or foreman directions/settings.
  11. Rubs and repairs concrete surfaces as directed by carpenter or foreman.
  12. Removes shoring and braces from forms, dismantles and stacks them for storing/transport.
  13. Operates vibrator during foundation, column and wall pours. Places and finishes concrete in some of these same concrete pours.
  14. Mixes grout according to directions and grouts base-plates.
  15. Helps disassemble forms after the concrete has set-up.
  16. Assists form carpenters with other of their duties as directed.
  17. Helps keep work area clean at all times.
  18. Complies with all pertinent company, state, OSHA safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
  19. Reports any job site and/or WB employee related safety violations to appropriate supervisory personnel.
  20. Works as a safe and productive member of a construction crew/team.
  21. Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes/tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times.

  1. GED - preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  1. Valid driver’s license – Preferred
  2. OSHA - 10 Hour Certification - Preferred
  3. Powder actuated tool certification - Preferred
  4. WB Craft Training - Optional

Physical Demands

  1. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  2. Frequent lifting, bending, kneeling and reaching
  3. Walking frequently
  4. Reaching above shoulder
  5. Standing for long periods of time
  6. Climbing ladders, working at heights, wearing/using fall protection harness
  7. Handling and assembling formwork
  8. Handling and installing concrete reinforcement materials
  9. Handling, placing, and finishing of concrete
