Job title: Food Service Utility Worker

Mentored by: Food Service Director, Assistant Food Service Director, Chef and Lead Captain.

Position Summary: Under general supervision, is responsible for the washing and sanitizing of dishes, silverware, utensils, pots and pans used by the kitchen in service of residents and personnel.

Qualifications & Education Required:

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Experience preferred, but not necessary.
• Ability to remain flexible and ready to assume other responsibilities assigned.
• Applicant must have an interest in improving skills.
• Must have a working knowledge of dishwashing machine and procedures used to wash dishes in a large kitchen.
• Applicant must be willing to perform manual work cooperatively with others.

Position Responsibilities:

• Maintains general cleanliness of the dishwashing area in a manner acceptable by the licensing agency.
• Maintains proper food handling and personal hygiene practices.
• Sanitation and appropriate storage of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and utensils.
• Dispose of garbage; assist in maintaining clean dumpster environment.
• Daily emptying of garbage containers.
• Daily cleaning of floors, sweeping and mopping.
• Cleaning assignments.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing for long periods, walking and heavy lifting.

Exposure to Conditions:

• May walk on wet surfaces. Will work with cleaning chemicals and hot water.
