Whether you're just beginning your culinary career or are an experienced cook, this position provides valuable hands-on experience in a professional, high-volume commercial kitchen while serving nutritious meals to hundreds of students and staff each day.

Position Summary

As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving wholesome, nutritious, and appetizing meals that fuel our students for success in the classroom and career training. You will help oversee daily food production, maintain food safety standards, manage inventory, and assist in training Culinary Arts students participating in work-based learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

· Prepare meals according to established menus and production schedules.

· Determine appropriate food quantities based on student and staff meal counts.

· Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.

· Prepare and set up serving lines for meal service.

· Assist with serving meals while maintaining quality and presentation standards.

· Complete daily food production sheets, inventory records, and pull sheets.

· Monitor inventory levels and request additional food and supplies as needed.

· Maintain proper storage, labeling, rotation, and handling of food products.

· Ensure leftovers are properly cooled, stored, and documented.

· Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining facility.

· Report unsafe or unsanitary conditions immediately.

· Supervise and mentor Culinary Arts and Work-Based Learning students assigned to Food Services.

· Promote teamwork, professionalism, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Minimum of two years of experience in a cafeteria, restaurant, healthcare facility, school cafeteria, commercial kitchen, or other food service setting.

· ServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain certification.

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and quantity food production.

· Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.

· Ability to organize multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

· Strong time management and organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
