Job Description

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Student Services and Dean of Students, the Director of Student Health and Wellness manages the Student Health Center and provides health and wellness education for all GMercyU students.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Oversight and management of the Student Health Center including:

Offering consistent office hours for student appointments and walk-ins

Ordering appropriate medical supplies

Keeping up to date records in the Pyramed electronic medical records system

Maintaining contact with and managing the payment of the remote supervising physician

Collecting student health records

Assisting uninsured students with securing coverage through the marketplace or other means

Safeguarding HIPAA and FERPA protected student information

Maintaining close contact with the PA and Montgomery County Departments of Health to monitor/report area infectious disease outbreaks (measles, COVID, etc.)

Coordinating with Athletic Trainers to monitor student athlete injuries, treatment plans

Coordinating with Public Safety and the Office of Accessibility Services to create treatment/emergency response plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g. seizure disorders)

Planning and Managing the Student Health and Wellness budget

Presenting an overview of Health and Wellness to prospective students and families at Open Houses and Summer Orientation Days

Provision of health and wellness education including:

Notifying the GMercyU community of any campus or local area disease outbreaks

Authoring a monthly newsletter with timely health and wellness information

Coordinating with other Student Services offices (Counseling, Residence Life, Student Engagement, Title IX) to provide health and wellness programming/resources to students

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing with at least five years’ experience working in a college student health center or similar environment. Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred. All required licensing must be up to date.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and apply Human Resources’ principles. Ability to effectively communicate and respond to common requests from students, employees, regulatory agencies, and parents/families.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read and interpret statistical data, such as salary scales. Ability to present statistical data in written reports.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others and respond to individuals who may be concerned with a complaint or issue.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to prepare statistical reports for the Vice President for Student Services and Dean of Students.
