Job Description
Position Summary
The Experienced Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining guest and dealership vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership quality standards. This role ensures vehicles are serviced efficiently, safely, and accurately while delivering high quality workmanship and contributing to overall guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate possesses strong diagnostic abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle concerns using diagnostic equipment, technical resources, and manufacturer procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, fluid exchanges, and scheduled maintenance.
- Repair and service engine, transmission, electrical, suspension, steering, HVAC, and driveline systems.
- Conduct multi-point inspections and identify additional maintenance and repair opportunities.
- Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and recommendations on repair orders.
- Communicate repair needs and findings to Service Advisors and Shop Foreman.
- Follow manufacturer repair procedures, technical service bulletins, and warranty guidelines.
- Maintain productivity, efficiency, and quality standards established by the dealership.
- Properly maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, dealership policies, and OSHA regulations.
- Participate in ongoing manufacturer training and certification programs.
- Assist and mentor entry-level technicians when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service information.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- ASE certifications preferred.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of automotive technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 2-5 years of automotive repair experience preferred.
- Manufacturer training and certifications are a plus.
- ASE certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
- Manual dexterity required for precision mechanical repairs.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an automotive service shop with exposure to vehicle noise, exhaust fumes, chemicals, and moving equipment in a fast-paced environment.
