Job Description
Position Summary
The Entry Level Service Technician assists experienced technicians in performing vehicle maintenance and repair services while developing technical skills through hands-on training. This position is designed to prepare individuals for advancement into a certified automotive technician role by learning dealership procedures, manufacturer standards, and safe repair practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance services including oil changes, tire rotations, battery testing, fluid checks, and filter replacements under supervision.
- Assist technicians with vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
- Learn proper diagnostic methods and operation of dealership tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all dealership policies, safety procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
- Complete required training and manufacturer certification programs as assigned.
- Properly document work performed and communicate findings to supervising technicians.
- Assist with shop housekeeping and vehicle movement as needed.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Deliver a positive experience for guests and support overall service department operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Automotive technical school enrollment or completion preferred.
- Previous automotive, mechanical, or maintenance experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Enrollment in or completion of an automotive technical training program preferred.
- Previous automotive, mechanical, maintenance, or related experience is helpful but not required.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair principles preferred.
- Willingness to learn dealership processes, manufacturer standards, and repair procedures.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an automotive service shop with exposure to vehicle noise, exhaust fumes, chemicals, and moving equipment in a fast-paced environment.
