About the position: As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will collaborate with Safety & Operations to oversee the upkeep, safety, and operation of all Arc of Butte County facilities, and to supervise the work of assigned maintenance staff members across multiple locations in Butte County. This role is directly responsible for overseeing maintenance operations, coordinating preventive maintenance, and ensuring facilities remain safe, clean, and fully functional for staff and clients.

The Maintenance Supervisor provides both leadership and hands-on support for facility maintenance, janitorial services, event setup and breakdown, and fleet management. This position works closely with leadership to prioritize projects, coordinate vendors, and maintain compliance with safety standards.

This role requires flexibility to support operational needs across sites, including driving among Arc locations within Butte County. Driving outside of Butte County may be occasionally required. Additionally, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supporting fleet operations, including transporting company vehicles to and from service appointments, and participating in required driver training.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Assigning, scheduling, and prioritizing daily work tasks for maintenance staff based on operational needs

  • Providing daily direction, oversight, and follow-up to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and on time

  • Supporting and evaluating employee performance, attendance, and work quality, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching

  • Supporting employee development through training, mentoring, and performance guidance

  • Addressing performance or behavioral concerns through coaching, corrective guidance, and disciplinary action when necessary

  • Participating in workplace investigations by gathering information and documenting findings in coordination with leadership and HR

  • Recommending and/or implementing corrective action and disciplinary measures in accordance with organizational policy

  • Supporting and reinforcing adherence to safety protocols, policies, and procedures

  • Promoting a respectful, accountable, and inclusive work environment

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise daily maintenance operations across multiple Butte County locations

  • Assign, monitor, and support maintenance staff and tasks

  • Conduct routine facility inspections and identify repair or safety needs

  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment

  • Coordinate repairs including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC support

  • Oversee setup, breakdown, and cleaning of the Arc Pavilion for event rentals, including occasional weekends

  • Maintain roof drains, landscaping, and outdoor areas

  • Manage fleet maintenance including scheduling services, tracking asset history, and conducting monthly vehicle inspections

  • Travel among multiple Arc locations throughout Butte County including Chico, Oroville, and surrounding service areas to support operational needs

  • Operate motor vehicles (driving) to transport and coordinate to and from service appointments and maintenance facilities as needed

  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and facility policies

  • Monitor maintenance inventory and approve supply purchases

  • Track maintenance requests and ensure timely completion

  • Provide updates to leadership regarding facility conditions and project status

  • Assist with hands-on repairs and maintenance as needed

  • Collaborate with Safety Coordinator to implement safety programs

  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility maintenance or related field

  • At least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred

  • Safely operate and transport company vehicles and complete required driver training for fleet operations

  • Strong working knowledge of building maintenance systems and tools

  • Experience coordinating vendors and maintenance projects preferred

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to learn Asana (project management platform)

  • Strong communication skills using email, Google Calendar, and Slack for coordination and updates

Requirements:

  • Must pass a post-offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen, and driving record check

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, including no DUI convictions within the past five (5) years and no more than two (2) points on the driving record

  • Ability to work in various environments, including office and community settings

  • Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

  • May require frequent physical activity including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, walking, reaching, and climbing ladders, as well as assisting individuals with mobility needs

  • Work environment may include exposure to pet allergens. The Arc maintains a pet-friendly culture, and animals (such as the office cat) may occasionally be present in the workplace. Employees may also encounter pet allergens through donated items or community environments.
