When disaster strikes, Paul Davis Restoration helps families and businesses recover from fire, water, mold, and storm damage. As a Job Cost Accountant, you have an integral role in helping to restore more than just properties, but also peace of mind. The Job Cost Accountant ensures accurate tracking of all financial activity related to restoration projects, helping maintain healthy cash flow and strong job profitability. This role is central to ensuring that Paul Davis Restoration of NW Chicago operates efficiently, invoices accurately, and supports customers, insurance partners and our parent franchisor with clear financial documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track and record job-related costs including labor, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain job cost ledgers and reconcile against budgets.
  • Prepare accurate invoices for customers and insurance carriers.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications to project budgets.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support collections.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate billing and documentation.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and Paul Davis policies.

Requirements:

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • High level understanding of financial documentation and reconciliation
  • Strong data-entry accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-3 years of accounting or job costing experience
  • Experience in construction, restoration, or insurance billing

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug test.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
