The Service-Oriented Architect will lead the architecture, design, and evolution of enterprise-scale microservices environments. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
- Design and guide the evolution of large-scale microservices architectures, including service decomposition, domain-driven design, and distributed system patterns.
- Define architectural standards and provide technical direction for complex software transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate when microservices approaches are appropriate and establish strategies for safe, sustainable implementation.
- Design solutions involving container platforms, cloud-native technologies, APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging.
- Lead architecture initiatives across multiple engineering teams and collaborate with technical stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of resilient, observable, secure, and high-performing systems.
- Provide guidance on platform engineering practices, developer enablement, and internal technology improvements.
- Contribute to technical decision-making around cloud architecture, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a senior technology professional with extensive experience in software engineering and architecture roles. They should demonstrate strong technical depth, the ability to influence teams, and experience delivering complex distributed systems in production environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in architecture-focused roles.
- Deep expertise in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one major backend programming language such as Java, Go, or C#.
- Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
- Experience operating high-volume, latency-sensitive applications in production environments.
- Knowledge of major cloud platforms and managed cloud services.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture initiatives involving multiple teams and complex technical environments.
- Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, or cloud cost optimization is a plus.
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or Envoy is preferred.
- Experience in regulated industries or environments with strict compliance requirements is an advantage.
