Marketplace Operations Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketplace Operations Manager based in the United States.

This role is focused on driving the operational success of a growing third-party marketplace channel within a fast-paced e-commerce environment.
You will manage supplier onboarding, marketplace performance, catalog quality, and operational processes that directly impact customer experience.
The position combines vendor relationship management, data analysis, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will work closely with merchandising, pricing, supply chain, and product teams to ensure marketplace partners are successful.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and passionate about building scalable marketplace operations.

Accountabilities:

The Marketplace Operations Manager will own the day-to-day operational health of the marketplace channel by managing supplier relationships, improving processes, and ensuring marketplace partners meet quality and performance standards.

  • Research and identify new supplier opportunities across target categories using market analysis, competitive research, and internal business needs.
  • Build relationships with prospective suppliers, communicate marketplace opportunities, and manage early-stage qualification conversations.
  • Partner with category teams to prioritize supplier opportunities and ensure alignment with marketplace goals.
  • Manage the complete supplier onboarding lifecycle, including agreements, documentation, data requirements, technical setup, and launch coordination.
  • Lead product feed setup and validation by mapping data, reviewing accuracy, and resolving catalog quality issues before launch.
  • Train suppliers on marketplace systems, operational standards, and processes to support long-term success.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers during onboarding, troubleshooting issues and ensuring successful go-live execution.
  • Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and repeatable workflows to support marketplace growth.
  • Develop and improve marketplace processes related to claims, warranties, returns, and supplier performance management.
  • Monitor supplier performance, identify service issues, and coordinate resolutions related to data quality, fulfillment, pricing, and accounting.
  • Review product feeds, support catalog improvements, and identify opportunities to enhance listings, imagery, attributes, and product positioning.
  • Conduct marketplace audits, competitor research, and data cleanup initiatives to improve customer experience.
  • Test new marketplace features, document platform improvements, and support operational enhancements.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, pricing, supply chain, product, and customer service teams to resolve marketplace challenges.
  • Analyze inventory availability, pricing updates, returns trends, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong experience in marketplace operations, e-commerce, supplier management, and process optimization, with excellent analytical and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketplace operations, e-commerce merchandising, vendor management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing supplier or vendor relationships in an operational capacity.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales, inventory, and operational data to drive decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with multiple data systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Experience documenting processes and creating structured SOPs.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and execute operational initiatives in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience with marketplace platforms such as Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, or similar e-commerce ecosystems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with product feeds, catalog management systems, MDM tools, or data quality processes is a plus.
  • Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or trade supply industries is advantageous.
