Job Description

1823 Partners (US) LLC is a Registered Investment Adviser conducting business as a differentiated asset management firm focused on long-term, insurance-first investment strategies. The firm supports independent insurance companies with tailored investment strategies that back real promises with real assets. 1823 Partners manages a growing portfolio of private market investments with the objective of generating compelling returns for insurance companies and their policyholders, as well as other long-term-oriented institutional investors. 1823 Partners will initially focus on real estate, asset-backed finance, credit, insurance solutions and private equity, with a $18.7 billion-dollar asset mandate from JAB Insurance US Holdings, Inc. (“JAB Insurance”). The firm is headquartered in Miami and has an office in New York. For more information, please visit: www.1823.partners.

The Private Equity team is intentionally small, meaning junior professionals work directly with senior investors on all aspects of the investment process - sourcing, diligence, structuring, execution, and portfolio oversight—rather than being layered beneath multiple levels of hierarchy. This structure provides significantly broader responsibility and exposure than a traditional private equity associate role.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical, resourceful, and intellectually curious Private Equity Associate to join our investment team in the New York office. This role is ideal for someone with a strong quantitative background and a few years of relevant finance experience. As an Associate, you will take on more complex tasks and have greater responsibility for managing portions of the deal process, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and contributing to investment strategy. You will be expected to assist with managing junior team members while working closely with senior investors to execute transactions and drive portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses of potential investment opportunities, using both financial and operational data to assess value creation potential. Develop investment theses and provide actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Take ownership of building and refining detailed financial models, including financial projections, return analyses, sensitivity analyses, and leveraged buyout (LBO) models. Drive model updates and ensure accuracy for investment committee presentations and decision-making.
  • Lead the due diligence process, coordinating with external advisors, management teams, and internal stakeholders to analyze financial statements, operational metrics, and market dynamics. Identify risks, opportunities, and value drivers.
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive investment memorandums, presentations, and other materials for investment committees and senior management. Synthesize financial, strategic, and market data to tell a compelling investment story.
  • Oversee and conduct deep-dive research into market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes. Synthesize findings to provide actionable insights that inform investment decisions and portfolio management.
  • Work closely with portfolio companies to support value creation strategies, including operational improvements, market positioning, and exit strategies. Actively participate in post-investment monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on all aspects of the investment process. Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on financial modeling, industry research, and due diligence tasks. Help foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Take on ad-hoc strategic projects, including market entry strategies, fund strategy analysis, and portfolio optimization. Contribute to the development of the firm’s investment approach and industry outlook.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier academic institution. Preferred majors include Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting. Experience in financial modeling, deal structuring, and due diligence processes is required.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, develop advanced financial models (LBO, DCF, etc.), and interpret key metrics to inform investment decisions. Expertise in Excel is expected.
  • In-depth understanding of financial concepts, including valuation techniques, capital structures, and investment returns. Comfort working with senior stakeholders to present detailed financial insights and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely to senior management, investment committees, and external parties.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and lead key portions of the investment process from start to finish.
  • Independent thinker who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, yet also excels in a team setting. Willingness to take ownership and contribute proactively to the firm’s objectives.
  • A strong interest in private equity investing, with a demonstrated work ethic and drive to deepen knowledge in the space. Familiarity with private equity trends, sectors, and deal structures.
  • Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and other financial analysis tools. Knowledge of LBO modeling, DCF, and sensitivity analyses is highly preferred.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work with a high-performing, collaborative team at the intersection of finance, strategy, and investment.
  • Exposure to sophisticated investment structures and institutional capital partners.
  • A culture that values integrity, partnership, and long-term thinking.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
