Job Description
SUMMARY
The Ventilation Design Engineer will lead in the development of new products, maintain existing products, and VAVE existing products. Some projects will be brought to this position and others will be created by this position. They will need to be proven in product concept, design, testing, and approval for production.
They will collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams on ways to improve the product for ease of assembly, cost saving exercises, and product enhancements. Work closely with suppliers both foreign and domestic to support an expanding product line.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and 12V electrical systems.
Comprehension of the ECO process and following changes through the system and overseeing the first production run to complete the process.
Understands the concepts of Design for Manufacturing and the ability to implement this in all projects being conducted.
Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of general manufacturing practices including plastic fabrication processes.
Ability to work with SolidWorks CAD software.
Strong communication about project status and maintain project progress in Microsoft Project, while following our product development process (AKA Toll Gate Process).
Ability to understand UL, CSA, CE, other safety requirements, and how those impact the product.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with various interruptions.
Ability to work alone or with little direction to perform the required task(s) at hand.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Identifying top warranty issues, create and implement a plan to reduce the warranty cost.
Collaborates with project staff to create a strategic action plan and cost estimates of materials, time, labor, and other resources required to complete the project.
Analyzes equipment, systems, processes, and systems to identify modifications to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
Assist customer service as needed with product line related issues.
Some travel may be required.
Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering preferred, other engineering disciplines may be considered.
1 --3 years related experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficient computer skills and ability to learn required systems that are utilized to be successful in this position; such as SolidWorks CAD software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to communicate written and orally.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages, and the aptitude for detailed investigation of results.
REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to identify and describe practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
