Keep the plant running. As a Maintenance Technician at Friedman Industries, you'll troubleshoot and repair the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems behind our steel coil processing lines - performing preventive and predictive maintenance, entering work orders, managing spare parts, and jumping on breakdowns to minimize downtime. You'll work alongside operators and the Maintenance Supervisor, and this seat is a proven launch pad: our techs develop into Lead, Production Supervisor, and Maintenance Supervisor roles.

*Above-market benefits: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, life & disability insurance — plus profit sharing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Maintain optimum functionality of all plant equipment and systems - inspections, predictive and preventive maintenance (including data entry), repairs, and modifications.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment; identify immediate and long-range maintenance needs; enter work orders in the maintenance computer system.
• Maintain PM records and spare-parts inventory to minimize cost and downtime.
• Work safely within company policies, procedures, and governmental regulations, and participate fully in safety programs (BBS, EHS audits, monthly safety inspections).
• Assist in training plant employees in equipment operation and maintenance, and become proficient operating plant equipment.
• Complete housekeeping assignments and work as a team member with a positive attitude; respond to call-ins, extended shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude - precision measuring instruments, fasteners, piping/fittings and valves, cutting and welding, packing/sealing/gasket products, rotating shaft components, and rigging.
• Problem-solving and decision-making ability; strong teamwork, attendance, communication, and work ethic.
• Computer skills, including data entry and retrieval.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, work outside in all weather, climb ladders, and work from heights in a physically strenuous environment.
• Availability for 8-hour and extended shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call; reliable transportation.

NICE TO HAVE
• Technical school or bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, facility operations, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Steel processing or heavy manufacturing plant maintenance experience.
• One year of supervisory or lead experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
