Job Description
Position Summary
Marsh Furniture Company is seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Facilities Engineering Manager to serve as the strategic partner and technical leader to our maintenance organization. Based in High Point, NC, this role focuses on improving reliability, optimizing systems, and supporting maintenance execution through proactive management, sound investment, and technical leadership.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who excels at diagnosing complex facility and equipment issues, strengthening preventive maintenance programs through CMMS utilization, and helping extend the life of a well-maintained facility.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Reliability Engineering
- Act as the primary technical resource for the maintenance team, providing expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Analyze chronic equipment and facility issues; develop sustainable, root-cause-based solutions
- Support maintenance in improving uptime, system reliability, and response effectiveness
- Lead construction, expansion, improvement, and efficiency projects involving creativity and capital expenditure.
Facilities & Infrastructure Expertise
- Provide technical oversight and guidance for critical systems, including:
- Boiler and steam systems
- Compressed air systems
- Dust collection systems
- Fire detection, alarm, and prevention (sprinkler) systems
- Industrial electrical distribution systems
- Climate Control Systems (Humidification, AMU, etc.)
- Develop standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure long-term system health
· Help balance operational demands with proactive maintenance in a well-maintained seasoned facility
· Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to off-hours facility or safety emergencies, including reporting to the site as needed to assess and resolve issues.
CMMS Optimization & Maintenance Strategy
- Serve as the functional owner/subject matter expert for the CMMS system
- Improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies through data-driven insights and artificial intelligence
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of asset data, work orders, and maintenance histories
- Establish inventory structure for spare equipment parts and reusable maintenance supplies
- Partner with maintenance leadership to prioritize and plan work effectively
Manufacturing Equipment Support
- Provide technical support for production equipment, including automated and computer-controlled systems
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve complex equipment issues
- Assist in evaluating equipment upgrades, modifications, and performance improvements
- Comprehensive tooling management support
- Fleet Management (Forklifts, Tractors, Carts, etc.)
Capital & Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Identify opportunities to modernize facility infrastructure and improve efficiency
- Support capital project planning, scope development, and execution
- Drive initiatives focused on reliability, energy efficiency, and cost reduction
- Support TPM related initiatives
Safety & Compliance
- Provide technical guidance to ensure systems meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Support inspections and compliance for boilers, electrical systems, and other critical infrastructure
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing facility
- Strong experience using and optimizing a CMMS system
- Deep technical knowledge of:
- Boiler and steam systems
- Compressed air systems
- Dust collection systems
- Industrial electrical systems
- Climate Control systems
- Demonstrated success supporting maintenance teams in a technical leadership role
- Experience maintaining and improving performance in seasoning industrial facilities
Preferred
- Experience in wood products, cabinetry, or similar manufacturing
- Familiarity with PLCs, controls, and industrial automation
- Certification such as CMRP or similar reliability/maintenance credentials
- Experience with energy management or facility modernization
