Information Environment Analyst

US SPACE FORCE · JOINT COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS · PAI / OSINT · FULLY REMOTE

Narratives shift. Sentiment moves. Audiences react — or don't — and the information environment around a partner nation engagement is as operationally relevant as the physical one. As an Information Environment Analyst supporting the US Space Force's Joint Commercial Operations cell, you track those dynamics in near-real-time: monitoring the digital landscape, identifying emerging narratives and threat indicators, and delivering rapid analytical products that help operators adapt before the picture changes. This is a fully remote position open to US citizens.

Role Overview

As an Information Environment (IE) Analyst supporting the Joint Commercial Operations (JCO) cell, you provide publicly available information (PAI) analytics in support of Operations, Activities, and Investments (OAI) engagements across all three phases: planning, execution, and assessment. You baseline the information environment before an operation, monitor for change and narrative shift in near-real-time during execution, and deliver rapid post-action assessments and after-action reviews within defined timelines. You operate on a live shift via remote teleconference, take direction from the JCO Site Lead, and produce LLM-assisted analytical reports with the precision and speed that operational decision makers require.

Source-Derived Role Summary

The Resource Provider shall deliver finalized reports on specified OAI engagements and provide rapid analytics support, leveraging first-party data collection and aggregation for sentiment analysis or topic identification within a hyper-localized information environment. LLM-based agent tools that automate report writing, producing tailored SITREPs for near-real-time updates to operational decision makers during the execution phase, are required.

A Day in the Life
  • ✓Monitor the JCO chat and teleconference continuously during your shift; acknowledge taskers within 30 minutes and describe your planned course-of-action with timelines
  • ✓During planning phases, baseline the information environment for an OAI engagement: assess existing narratives, discourse and sentiment by regional community, ongoing events, relevant assets, key individuals, and messaging patterns
  • ✓During execution, monitor the digital information network in near-real-time: track change detection indicators, flag narrative shifts and anomalies, and identify potential risks or changes in target audience behavior
  • ✓Deliver a Rapid Recap within 24–48 hours of an OAI, summarizing target audience reactions, sentiment shifts, narrative spikes, and immediate refinement recommendations; produce a comprehensive After-Action Review within 72 hours
  • ✓Use LLM-based tools to automate SITREP production for near-real-time operational updates; operate systems manually and override automation for complex scenarios as required
  • ✓Conduct mission-focused open research, behavioral analysis, and information environment activity prioritization in support of daily JCO operations
  • ✓Publish all data and processed products to JCO-designated databases in compliant formats; submit machine-to-machine via designated submission services
Why This Role Matters

Mission Impact

Partner nation engagement operations don't happen in an information vacuum. The IE assessments and real-time monitoring you deliver give operators visibility into how activities are landing, where narratives are shifting, and where risks are emerging — intelligence that directly informs whether and how operations continue.

Geo Owl Impact

This role extends Geo Owl's presence into the information environment analytics domain within the Space Force's JCO ecosystem — complementing our geospatial capabilities with demonstrated PAI and IE tradecraft at the operational level.

Your Growth

You'll develop applied expertise in AI-assisted report automation, hyper-localized sentiment analysis, and operational IE assessment — capabilities in high and growing demand across the defense and national security enterprise.

Core Responsibilities
  • ▸Conduct comprehensive baseline assessments of the information environment for OAI engagements, covering narratives, discourse, sentiment, key individuals, messaging patterns, and relevant assets
  • ▸Identify and curate information environment inputs for each engagement — additional and hard-to-access foreign sources, keywords, and search parameters
  • ▸Implement near-real-time monitoring during OAI execution: track change detection indicators, monitor digital network key nodes, alert on narrative shifts, and identify risks or target audience behavior changes
  • ▸Produce Rapid Recaps (within 24–48 hours) and After-Action Reviews (within 72 hours) for each OAI, with strategic insights, trend analysis, and forward-looking recommendations
  • ▸Leverage LLM-based tools to automate SITREP production and report writing for near-real-time operational updates; maintain ability to operate and override all automated systems manually
  • ▸Conduct behavioral analysis based on publicly available information; provide information environment activity prioritization support to operators as required
  • ▸Enable rapid tip-and-cue operations across providers by surfacing details on activities, personnel, and objects that affect ongoing planning, operational, and assessment activities
  • ▸Publish all data and processed products to JCO-designated databases in compliant formats; submit machine-to-machine via designated primary and secondary submission services
Required Qualifications
  • ✓US citizenship required
  • ✓Demonstrated experience in publicly available information (PAI) research, OSINT, or information environment analysis
  • ✓Experience conducting sentiment analysis, narrative monitoring, and discourse analysis within a regional or hyper-localized information environment
  • ✓Ability to produce concise, structured analytical reports under tight time constraints (24–72 hour deliverable windows)
  • ✓Experience with near-real-time monitoring and change detection in digital information environments
  • ✓Ability to work a defined shift schedule (Monday–Friday, 8.5 hours including 30-minute break) with continuous presence in operational chat and teleconference during shift hours
  • ✓Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote work environment capable of supporting secure teleconference operations
  • ✓Strong written communication skills and experience producing operational products such as SITREPs, rapid recaps, or after-action reviews

Preferred Qualifications

  • ▸Experience with LLM-based tools for automated report generation or analytical workflow augmentation
  • ▸Familiarity with US Space Force, Space Command, or USSOUTHCOM operational environments
  • ▸Foreign language proficiency relevant to SOUTHCOM area of responsibility (Spanish, Portuguese, or other regional languages)
  • ▸Experience with partner nation engagement support, influence operations assessment, or strategic communications analysis
  • ▸Experience accessing and curating hard-to-access foreign language or regional information sources
  • ▸Experience integrating PAI tools and data products into API-connected operational platforms

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
  • ▸You read information environments the way a geospatial analyst reads imagery — you see structure, pattern, and significance in what most people scroll past
  • ▸You write fast under pressure — when an operation is live and the operator needs an update, your products are concise, accurate, and decision-ready
  • ▸You're comfortable with AI-assisted workflows — you can leverage LLM tools to accelerate your work without losing analytical judgment about what the tools get wrong
  • ▸You're culturally attuned — you understand how regional context, language nuance, and local actors shape the information environment in ways that generic monitoring tools miss
  • ▸You're self-directed and accountable working remotely — you maintain shift discipline, stay present in the operational environment, and deliver on time without being supervised
Is This Role For You?

✔ Great Fit

You are an experienced OSINT or PAI analyst with a strong sense for how information environments work, how narratives move, and how to make that analysis useful to operational decision makers — fast. You're energized by live operational environments, comfortable working remotely, and ready to own your shift with professionalism and precision.

✘ May Not Be For You

This may not be the right fit if you prefer long-cycle research projects without operational reporting deadlines, or if real-time shift accountability and rapid product turnaround are not a fit for your working style.

Career Growth & Professional Value

Information environment analysis is one of the fastest-growing capability domains across defense and national security — and this role puts you at its operational edge. You'll develop applied expertise in LLM-assisted analytical workflows, hyper-localized sentiment and narrative assessment, and operational PAI production that directly informs Space Force and CCMD partner engagement decisions. For analysts who want to build a differentiated track record in IE analytics with real operational stakes, this is a strong and career-building position.
