Personnel Security Specialist
Springfield, VA | Full-Time | Onsite

Support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the Federal Protective Service (FPS) Personnel Security Program.

Join a team responsible for reviewing and adjudicating personnel security cases that directly impact federal mission readiness and workforce integrity.

Support Critical National Security MissionsProtection Strategies Inc. (PSI), a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, is seeking a Personnel Security Specialist to support the Federal Protective Service (FPS), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In this role, you will support personnel security adjudications, suitability determinations, and security vetting activities that directly impact the federal workforce. You will work alongside experienced security professionals reviewing investigative records, evaluating personnel security concerns, and ensuring compliance with federal personnel security requirements.

What You'll Do
    Review, evaluate, and adjudicate background investigations, personnel security files, and related documentation to support suitability and security eligibility determinations.Analyze complex personnel security cases and apply federal laws, regulations, policies, and adjudicative guidelines to support decision-making.Identify areas of concern, evaluate mitigating information, and recommend appropriate adjudicative actions.Coordinate with government personnel, investigators, and internal stakeholders to obtain required information and advance cases through the adjudication process.Conduct research utilizing personnel security systems, databases, and investigative records.Review personnel security vetting forms and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal requirements.Prepare written assessments, recommendations, and security-related correspondence.Ensure personnel security actions are completed in accordance with DHS and FPS policies and procedures.Maintain detailed records and case documentation throughout the adjudication lifecycle.
What You BringRequired Qualifications
    Three (3) or more years of experience supporting a federal personnel security program, adjudications, suitability determinations, security clearance processing, or related security operations.Knowledge of personnel security principles, federal security regulations, and adjudicative processes.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate sensitive information and make sound recommendations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
    Experience supporting DHS, FPS, DOD, or other federal agencies.Experience reviewing background investigations and personnel security files.Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Government, or a related field.Active or previous Tier 4 (Public Trust) investigation
