- Manage the prior authorization process from initial submission through approval, denial, or resolution, including submitting required documentation and following up with insurance companies.
- Monitor authorization status, approved units, service dates, and expiration dates to help prevent gaps in services or billing.
- Maintain accurate, organized records of authorizations, insurance communications, and related documentation within Unity’s systems.
- Review insurance requirements and correspondence for accuracy, completeness, and missing information, coordinating with clinical and administrative staff when additional documentation is needed.
- Follow established workflows and procedures for authorization submission, tracking, follow-up, and documentation, while identifying issues that require management attention.
- Assist with client billing and invoicing, including reviewing charges for accuracy, preparing invoices, and helping resolve basic billing questions or discrepancies.
- Conduct routine quality checks to ensure billing and authorization information is accurate, complete, and properly documented.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with insurance representatives, clients/families, and Unity staff.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow through consistently until issues are resolved, ensuring that authorization requests, follow-ups, and billing items do not fall through the cracks.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with insurance authorizations and billing
- Ethical Commitment: Strong dedication to ethical practice and maintaining client confidentiality.
- Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check
- Active Drivers License
