Senior Financial Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst based in United States.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will partner closely with R&D and engineering leaders to manage and optimize Cloud, Cellular, and AI infrastructure spending. You will provide financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and strategic insights that help leadership make informed investment decisions. The role combines FP&A, financial modeling, cost management, and business partnership in a fast-growing technology environment. You will help build scalable frameworks for tracking and attributing AI spend while improving the accuracy of financial forecasts and reporting. You will also collaborate with Accounting on month-end close and support annual operating planning across engineering organizations. This is an opportunity to influence how technology investments are managed while developing new models, processes, and performance metrics.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with Software and Firmware Engineering leaders to manage Cloud, Cellular, and AI vendor spending and identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze financial results and prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting for R&D and Finance leadership.
  • Support financial review meetings by translating complex financial data into clear insights, trends, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Accounting on month-end close activities, cost classification, reporting requests, and financial reconciliations.
  • Partner with R&D teams throughout annual operating planning and help develop accurate budgets and forecasts.
  • Build and improve financial models, reporting frameworks, and forecasting mechanisms to increase accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Develop new KPIs, analyses, and mechanisms to evaluate business performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Build reporting and attribution frameworks that improve visibility and governance of AI-related spending.
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline financial reporting, forecasting, modeling, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and develop scalable solutions that support a rapidly growing technology organization.
  • Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities effectively to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Promote a collaborative, growth-oriented approach while supporting long-term business objectives and high-quality decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a high-growth technology company, preferably within an R&D or engineering finance environment.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, including advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex financial information and translate it into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence presenting financial insights to senior management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Highly proactive, organized, and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud costs and SaaS cost management is preferred.
  • Experience partnering directly with software engineering teams is a plus.
  • Proficiency with AI productivity and analysis tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Glean, or Cursor is advantageous.
  • Experience with Databricks and FP&A platforms such as Workday Adaptive Planning or similar planning systems is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in building new financial models, processes, reporting mechanisms, and scalable solutions.

  • Annual base salary of $81,600–$105,600 CAD, depending on factors such as location, skills, knowledge, and experience.
