This is a high-impact strategy and operations role supporting a senior executive and a broad external-facing portfolio. You’ll help translate strategic priorities across policy, public affairs, publishing, and external partnerships into a coordinated portfolio of programs. The role combines strategic planning, operational leadership, program ownership, and cross-functional execution. You’ll design operating rhythms, establish measurement frameworks, and drive initiatives from ambiguous starting points through measurable outcomes. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and teams across communications, policy, legal, finance, and external partnerships. In a fast-moving environment, the role offers significant autonomy, exposure to complex strategic questions, and the opportunity to shape how a growing executive office operates.
- Partner with the Chief of Staff to translate senior leadership priorities into a clear and actionable portfolio of programs spanning policy, public affairs, publishing, and external partnerships.
- Design and manage the team’s operating rhythm, including planning processes, review cycles, decision forums, and mechanisms that keep complex cross-functional work aligned.
- Own individual programs end-to-end by defining objectives, developing execution plans, coordinating stakeholders, driving delivery, and reporting on outcomes.
- Build operational foundations for a growing team, including prioritization, work tracking, portfolio management, and consistent approaches to measuring program success.
- Develop and implement measurement frameworks that define success for individual programs, support experimentation where appropriate, and provide visibility into what is working.
- Represent the office in cross-functional settings with communications, policy, legal, finance, and external partners, ensuring priorities and decisions remain coordinated.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and execution challenges across multiple workstreams and drive them toward timely resolution.
- Take ownership of new projects and ambiguous strategic problems as priorities evolve, adapting quickly to the needs of the portfolio.
- Support major convenings, campaigns, publishing initiatives, and other time-bound programs while maintaining focus on longer-term strategic priorities.
- 3–5 years of experience in strategy, program leadership, operations, or a similar role supporting a senior leader or complex cross-functional organization.
- Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous priorities into structured plans and drive them through execution to measurable outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing materials and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and the ability to determine when to make decisions independently and when to escalate issues or seek additional input.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams while maintaining strong attention to detail and execution quality.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change and problems may not have predefined solutions.
- Experience in policy, government relations, public affairs, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working directly with senior executives is a plus.
- Experience building processes, programs, or team structures from the ground up is desirable.
- Experience defining success metrics, measuring program performance, or running experiments where impact is not easily captured by standard metrics is an advantage.
- Annual U.S. base salary of $144,600–$217,000, with the final range determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and level.
- Potential equity and company bonus opportunities.
- 401(k) plan.
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Wellness stipends.
- Remote work options for eligible employees located 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from an office.
- Flexibility to work from home while participating in team meetings, off-sites, meet-ups, and other in-person events when appropriate.
- Opportunity to work on high-impact strategic initiatives spanning policy, public affairs, external partnerships, and executive operations.
- Significant exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- High-autonomy environment with opportunities to shape processes, operating models, and measurement frameworks.
