The Sales Manager –is responsible for proactively soliciting, securing, and managing group business from the Sports and Crew market segments for the DoubleTree by Hilton Roseville Minneapolis. This role drives group room revenue, catering revenue, and ancillary hotel revenue by building long-term relationships with community organizations, school districts, sports teams, and crew organizations throughout the greater Minneapolis–St. Paul area and beyond. The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-motivated hospitality sales professional with a proven track record of exceeding revenue goals, strong local market knowledge, and the relationship-building skills needed to convert community connections into repeat hotel business.

Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing

Requirements: Essential Functions / Duties and Responsibilities:

• Proactively prospect, solicit, and close new and repeat group business within the segment through outbound calls, site visits, networking events, tradeshows, and community involvement.

• Develop and execute a strategic sales plan aligned with the hotel's overall revenue goals, working in partnership with the Director of Sales and Revenue Management.

• Negotiate contract terms, room rates, and meeting space rental in line with hotel rate strategy and profitability goals; prepare and issue contracts, banquet event orders (BEOs), and group resumes.

• Conduct site inspections and client entertainment to showcase hotel meeting space, guest rooms, and banquet/catering capabilities.

• Partner with the Catering and Events team to ensure seamless turnover of group details, room blocks, and event specifications from contract through post-event follow-up.

• Manage group room blocks, monitor pick-up and attrition, and adjust sales strategy to maximize occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).

• Maintain accurate account, contact, and booking records in Sales Force

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports, forecasts, and production analyses for leadership review.

• Represent the hotel at community events, chamber of commerce functions, veteran and fraternal organization meetings, religious conferences, and educational/athletic tournaments to generate leads and brand visibility.

• Collaborate with regional Hilton sales resources and leverage brand tools (e.g., Hilton's CI/TY, STS lead referrals) to identify and pursue opportunities.

• Stay current on competitor offerings, local market trends, and SMERF segment pricing to position the hotel competitively.

• Participate in weekly sales meetings, revenue strategy meetings, and property-wide events as required.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales or hotel leadership.


Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience, with demonstrated success in the SMERF market segment

• Prior experience with a full-service hotel or branded property (Hilton experience strongly preferred).

• Established network within the Minneapolis–St. Paul community and/or SMERF-related organizations is highly desirable.

• Working knowledge of hotel sales and catering systems, Hilton PEP systems a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for client visits, tradeshows, and community events.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills with a consultative sales approach.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Highly organized with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines simultaneously.

• Self-starter who thrives on networking, community engagement, and building lasting relationships.

• Strong analytical skills to evaluate account production, forecast revenue, and identify new business opportunities.

• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate cross-departmentally with Catering, Front Office, Revenue Management, and Operations.

• Flexibility to attend evening or weekend community events, tradeshows, and client functions as needed.


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Primarily an office and field-based role requiring regular local travel to client sites, community events, and tradeshows.

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including during property tours and site inspections.

• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs (marketing materials, signage, event collateral).

• Occasional evening and weekend availability required to support community events and client entertainment.
