Sante is seeking a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist. Utilizing their lived experience of mental health recovery, the Peer Support Specialist provides hope, encouragement, mentoring, advocacy, and practical support to adolescents and young adults experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience developing recovery plans.
What You Will Do:
- Provide one-on-one peer mentoring and support in clinic and community settings.
- Assist participants in developing individualized recovery plans.
- Assist participants in building natural support and meaningful social connections.
- Develop trusting, collaborative relationships with participants using a person-centered, recovery-oriented approach.
- Provide individualized peer coaching and support to assist participants in identifying and achieving personal recovery goals.
- Build authentic, supportive relationships with participants through shared lived experience and recovery principles.
- Serve as a positive role model demonstrating that recovery from mental illness is possible.
- Assist participants in identifying personal strengths, interests, values, and recovery goals.
- Promote self-advocacy, empowerment, hope, and self-determination.
- Encourage engagement in treatment and community-based activities.
- Assist participants in developing coping skills, resilience, and wellness strategies to reduce relapses and promote recovery.
- Prepares and maintains written case records, reports, notes and forms.
- Check work e-mail according to agency protocol
- Participate in and complete all required training courses
- Other duties as assigned
What Is Needed:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- A minimum of 1 year of experience developing recovery plans.
- Lived experience and willingness to use that experience appropriately to support others.
- Current Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification or willingness to obtain certification within 2 years of hire date.
- Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
- Must display patience and must be able to effectively communicate with diverse consumers.
What You’ll Get:
- Salary: $46,000 to $48,000 annually
