Job Description
The Hun School of Princeton has an immediate opening for an experienced and motivated Director of Rowing who reports to the Co-Directors of Athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Director of Rowing for grades 9-12. This includes the Middle School Introduction to Rowing course that is offered;
- To set goals for the entire program, and monitor progress in collaboration with the Co-Directors of Athletics;
- Supervise and collaborate with the program coaches to create a cohesive and inclusive program;
- Develop, plan, coordinate, and execute daily practices and training;
- Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for development and athletic achievement in the sport of (program), from beginner to elite athletes;
- Observe the practices of each team at various times throughout the season and assist coaches with planning where needed;
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with the boathouse leadership in collaboration with the Co-Directors of Athletics;
- Work with Athletic department to offer out of season opportunities for growth consistent with the Mid-Atlantic Prep League regulations and within the values of the school;
- Evaluate the coaches of your program in collaboration with the Co-Directors;
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with Co-Directors, families, student-athletes, and other necessary stakeholders;
- Promote the program within the school and in the community to actively support the admissions process;
- Create a plan to assist student athletes who are interested in the college recruiting process;
- Continuous professional growth;
- Ensure a positive environment aligned with our school’s mission;
- Contributions to The Hun School community life beyond the practice and competition venue to assist in furthering the mission of the school.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred;
- Coaching experience at a High School, collegiate, or National Team level is preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members;
- Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement;
- Availability to work two seasons - Fall and Spring , and a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends;
- First Aid and CPR training - or have the ability to be trained;
- Willingness to get certified as CDL Driver Class C;
- A love for working with young people and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive community;
- A desire to contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively boarding school campus.

Seasonal Coaching Stipend Range: $7,800 to $10,700 per season
