Function of Position:

This position enables the library staff to maintain the resources and maintenance required daily to continue to provide the best patron experience and student support possible. In addition, the position serves to help students gain job-ready skills for post-graduation employment and/or further higher education.

This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons at the circulation desk.
• Perform circulation duties, including checking materials in and out and supporting daily library operations.
• Maintain shelf and stack organization to ensure materials are properly arranged.
• Retrieve materials for interlibrary loan (ILL) requests.
• Complete assigned projects and additional tasks as needed.
• Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow directions while supporting library services.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College
• Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing
• Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)
• Provide student-centered assistance with a genuine desire to help.
• Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous customer service experience
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week
