The Consultant, Technical Solutions will be responsible for independently delivering technical solutions across manufacturing technology projects, from architecture and implementation through deployment and optimization. This role requires strong technical expertise, business understanding, and the ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams.
- Design and implement technical architectures for MES/MOM solutions, Industrial DataOps platforms, Unified Namespace (UNS) environments, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Translate functional requirements into scalable, maintainable technical designs aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with functional consultants and stakeholders to validate requirements, define success criteria, and ensure effective solution delivery.
- Lead hands-on implementation activities using platforms such as Ignition, Sepasoft MES modules, MQTT brokers, and related industrial technologies.
- Configure and develop MES capabilities including production tracking, OEE, quality, traceability, scheduling, inventory, and maintenance workflows.
- Design and implement Unified Namespace architectures, including ISA-95 data models, MQTT topic structures, and industrial data pipelines.
- Integrate manufacturing systems with ERP, SCADA, PLCs, historians, QMS, LIMS, and analytics platforms using appropriate integration methods.
- Develop scripts and solutions using Python, SQL, JavaScript, and related technologies while minimizing unnecessary customization.
- Lead technical testing activities, support user acceptance testing, and assist with commissioning and production deployments.
- Create technical documentation including architecture diagrams, system specifications, data flows, and deployment procedures.
- Manage technical project activities, including scope, timelines, resources, and delivery coordination for smaller-scale initiatives.
- Collaborate with distributed teams, mentor junior consultants, participate in code reviews, and contribute to reusable technical assets.
- Support pre-sales activities through demonstrations, feasibility assessments, technical estimations, and solution discussions.
The ideal candidate is a technically experienced professional with a background in industrial automation, manufacturing IT, and enterprise system integration. They should be comfortable working independently, solving complex technical challenges, and communicating with both technical and business stakeholders.
- 4–7 years of experience in industrial automation, MES/MOM, manufacturing IT, or related technology environments.
- Hands-on experience implementing MES solutions, preferably with Ignition and/or Sepasoft platforms.
- Experience configuring and delivering multiple MES functional modules in production environments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing data standards, including ISA-95 principles and industrial data modeling.
- Experience integrating shop-floor systems with enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
- Strong programming and scripting skills using Python and SQL.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and technologies such as MQTT, OPC-UA, REST APIs, and databases.
- Experience with data modeling, system performance optimization, and technical troubleshooting.
- Understanding of cloud, infrastructure, and virtualization technologies including Windows, Linux, AWS/Azure, or containerization is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities, work independently, and deliver projects with strong execution discipline.
- Willingness to mentor junior team members and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
