SUMMARY:
The Regional Communications Lead has strategic responsibility for strengthening communications across ECHO’s Central America and Caribbean Regional Impact Center (CAC RIC), enhancing regional visibility, engagement with key audiences—including donors, partners, staff, and network members—and advancing impact storytelling. This role translates program data, learning, and field experiences into compelling, evidence-based stories aligned with ECHO’s mission, faith, and values.

The Regional Communications Lead provides strategic communications leadership for ECHO’s Central America and Caribbean Regional Impact Center (CAC RIC), strengthening regional visibility, engagement, and storytelling among key audiences including donors, partners, staff, and network members. This role translates program data, learning, and field experiences into compelling, evidence-based impact stories aligned with ECHO’s mission, faith, and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Strategic Communications and Messaging

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Regional Communications Plan to increase CAC RIC’s visibility in Central America and the Caribbean and position its strategic messages and priorities within the network, working closely with the Regional Director and aligned with ECHO’s global communications strategy.
• In collaboration with the Regional Director and CAC RIC team, develop and communicate high-impact stories using data, learning, and experiences from network members across the CAC region.
• Develop internal and external communication materials, including reports, donor updates, presentations, training resources, and field stories, ensuring clear, faith-aligned, technically accurate, and audience-specific messaging.
• Lead and support the continued development of the CAC RIC’s presence on ECHOcommunity and other digital knowledge-sharing platforms.

• In close coordination with ECHO Global Communications, ensure that regional messaging aligns with global frameworks, brand standards, and storytelling priorities.
• Support the continual development of the CAC RIC’s presence on ECHOcommunity.org.

1. Data-Driven Storytelling and Learning Integration

• Coordinate with ECHO’s MEAL and global communications teams to visualize, interpret, and communicate key regional data and evaluation findings in accessible and engaging formats for various audiences.
• Translate monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) data into donor-centered narratives and communication products that highlight results, impact, and transformation.
• Identify compelling stories within the CAC regional network and develop them into multiple formats (case studies, reports, videos, newsletters) reflecting both scientific and spiritual impact.
• Stay current with relevant trends, global observance days, and narrative opportunities to ensure CAC content remains dynamic and relevant.
• Conduct periodic audience research and communication assessments to strengthen the effectiveness and relevance of regional communication strategies across multiple languages and audiences.

• Train staff and partners to capture stories, photographs, videos, and basic impact data to support learning, communications, and donor engagement.

1. Content & Storytelling

• Support the development of educational materials, technical resources, and regional publications in coordination with the Regional Director and Agronomist.
• Lead the development and distribution of a quarterly regional newsletter highlighting CAC activities, network learning, innovations, and impact stories.
• Capture photos, videos, field information, and new innovations/challenges during trainings, symposia, conferences, and farm visits; perform basic video editing as needed.

• Ensure content reflects ECHO’s technical excellence, faith-based values, and regional realities.

1. Channels & Community Engagement

• Manage and grow CAC regional social media channels by sharing strategic updates, technical resources, impact stories, and network member highlights.
• Facilitate and strengthen WhatsApp communities in coordination with leadership and technical staff by sharing training materials, technical resources, success stories, videos, and relevant updates.
• Receive, respond, monitor, and route organizational communications to the Regional Director or appropriate team members.

1. Event Communications and Regional Engagement Support

• Support the organization and execution of courses, workshops, symposia, and other events through promotion, invitations, and logistical coordination.

• Prepare institutional reports, summaries, and communication outputs following events and regional activities.

1. Coordination with Consultants and Contractors

• Coordinate external communications, marketing, and creative service providers to ensure alignment with ECHO’s brand standards, messaging priorities, and regional communication objectives.
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date institutional directory of partners, strategic allies, network members, and key stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain a roster of regional professionals to serve as a pool of consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Fluency in Spanish and advanced proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of Indigenous or local languages and/or Haitian Creole is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in the use of cameras/video recording equipment for photography and audiovisual material production.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, International Development, or a related field.
• Knowledge of agriculture, environmental issues, or related fields is a plus.
• Experience working with international development cooperation or nonprofit organizations.
• Strong understanding of impact storytelling, strategic messaging, and communications planning.
• Experience integrating program data and findings into communication products for donors or public audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, content management platforms, and digital communication tools; experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, SurveyMonkey, or Tableau is preferred.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Works closely with the Regional Impact Center Director, CAC RIC team, ECHO global Communications team, and MEAL staff to ensure alignment of regional communications with organizational priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work occurs in both office and outdoor farm environments; may include varying levels of noise and activity. Must be able to work constructively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility depending on training events and travel schedules. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on job demands.

TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily within Guatemala and the Central America and Caribbean region, with occasional international travel as needed.
