About This Position

  • Position Summary
    • Performs a variety of responsibilities to provide efficient purchasing of supplies and equipment throughout Med Center Health. Assists in establishing and monitoring par levels on inventory, non-stock, and consignment supply items for areas as assigned by the Purchasing Manager and/or the Director of Supply Chain Management. In collaboration with Vice President and Director, participates in the negotiation of capital, supply, and service purchasing, providing negotiation support and strategies to end-user departments.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Work Experience
      • Previous experience in purchasing, logistics, or related supply chain management experience preferred.
      • Previous purchasing experience in computerized inventory and EDI Systems desired.

    • Education
      • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
        Equivalent professional level experience in purchasing and/or supply chain management experience or a combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of required bachelor's degree.

    • Certifications/Licensure
      • None required.
  • Job Specific Performance Standards

      • Ensures outstanding orders are completed, maintains standing orders with renewal dates, approves invoice changes or corrections, and in general takes care of problems relating to purchase orders.
      • Establishes and monitors par levels on inventory, non-stock, and consignment supply items for areas as assigned by Director of Corporate Purchasing.
      • Conducts approved product evaluations, conversions, and standardization projects through each stage until completion of project. Converts requested items to the proper Premier or locally negotiated contract where appropriate to maintain contract compliance levels.
      • Interprets and organizes purchasing data and identifies patterns that can be targeted for cost reduction, contract compliance, and process improvement.
      • Communicates regularly with assigned departments, purchasing staff, and other departments/individuals to ensure proper coordination of matters related to the purchasing duties
      • Maintains the corporate facility items dictionaries according to established policy, including responsibility for the addition of new item numbers, inactivating old unused numbers, communicating to respective buyer that a new item has been added and for the buyer to request a procedure code where applicable, and entering/editing contract information.
      • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep informed of the latest trends in field of expertise.
      • In collaboration with Vice President and Director, participates in and is actively involved in the negotiation of supply and service purchasing, providing negotiation support and strategies to end-user departments. Level of involvement in these activities may vary based on experience and skill level.
