Job Description:

The Manual Machinist utilizes parts, prints, drawings, travelers or engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate prototype components, jigs and fixtures within set tolerances.


Key Responsibilities:

Setup and operation of manual machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses and surface grinders.Demonstrate knowledge of working properties of common metals.Select standard materials and equipment required for the job.Machining of complex precision parts to close specifications. Aligning and securing of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.Work well with leads of various company departments including engineering, weld shop, assembly and machine shop.Provide training to lower level machinistsMaintain a clean and organized workspace.Skills and Requirements:

Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 (ITAR). Verification required prior to employment.Able to read and comprehend prints, engineering drawings and information in order to determine methods and sequences needed for completionProficient knowledge of all machining equipment operationsManual dexterity to safely and proficiently utilize precision equipment, construct moderate to complex set-upsAble to work independently within established procedures associate within job functionGood communication skillsAbility to read, write and follow written and verbal instruction in EnglishAbility to work well with only a modest amount of repeated instructionsBe team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptabilityConduct himself/herself in a business-like and civil mannerPhysical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers to flex and extend fingers with opposition of thumb; palmer grasp, talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend stoop, reach, turn, twist, push, pull, and to move within all areas of the facilities and parking lots. A computer is used to access, input, and retrieve data. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. An annual eye exam is required.
