Position Summary

The Senior Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing complex commercial lending relationships, with a strong focus on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending. This role plays a key leadership position within the Commercial Lending team, emphasizing relationship development, portfolio growth, sound credit judgment, and adherence to regulatory and policy standards. The ideal candidate brings deep commercial credit experience, a proven production track record, and the ability to independently manage sophisticated lending relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Originate and grow new C&I and CRE relationships through strategic business development efforts
  • Maintain strong loan production, generally exceeding $20MM+ in annual new originations
  • Structure and present complex commercial credit requests in compliance with bank credit policy
  • Independently manage a portfolio of commercial loan relationships, including higher-risk and more complex credits
  • Monitor borrower performance and proactively identify emerging credit risks
  • Partner with credit administration and portfolio management to support sound underwriting and ongoing credit quality
  • Prepare and present credit memorandums, loan proposals, and approval packages
  • Ensure all loans meet regulatory, compliance, documentation, and policy requirements
  • Serve as a senior representative of the bank in the community and business development activities
  • Informally mentor or support junior lenders, as appropriate
Requirements:

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8–10 years of commercial lending experience with significant C&I and CRE exposure
  • Demonstrated history of originating $20MM+ in annual new loan production
  • Strong expertise in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, and loan structuring
  • Proven ability to manage complex commercial relationships independently
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Valued, but not required skills & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 10+ years of commercial lending experience
  • Prior leadership experience, including leading, coaching, or mentoring junior lenders or lending teams
  • Experience with complex, multi-entity, or syndicated credit structures

  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside a central heat and air-conditioned office building. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
