POSITION SUMMARY:
The Café Area Manager is responsible for all Madison cafes and will work primarily in the field, providing hands-on coaching, training and operations support to achieve positive financial results in the spirit of Colectivo Coffee’s Mission, Values, and Culture. The Area Manager will provide leadership to deliver a remarkable experience for our customers and co-workers as it relates to Colectivo Coffee’s Mission and Values. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Management:
- Hire, train and develop cafe leadership/managers using Colectivo’s principles.
- Maintain optimal cafe staffing levels and assess recruiting strategies as needed.
- Work alongside the people team to handle human resources tasks including onboarding, new hire training and register training.
Operations Oversight:
- Mentor, train, and coach managers and leadership team on various café operations aspects such as customer experience, scheduling, recruitment, teamwork, sales forecasting, payroll management, inventory management, and facility maintenance.
- Conduct regular Leadership Meetings and Area Meetings with Café Managers.
- Ensure consistent rollout of new products and maintain quality across all cafes.
Quality Assurance and Financial Management:
- Regularly visit cafes, document findings, and provide feedback to café managers and staff.
- Drive positive financial results by increasing sales and managing expenses, including labor and waste.
- Contribute to the budgeting process by providing construction and competitor information, as well as addressing facilities issues.
- Complete Café Manager reviews and conduct Shift Leader and Café Manager interviews.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform any additional duties as required to support café operations effectively.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- This position requires a four-year degree or equivalent experience in progressively responsible management in restaurant environments.
- Excellent leadership skills with ability to coach, motivate and cultivate those skills in others.
- Proficient in POS functions and computer programs such as Word, Excel, Email, Paylocity, NetSuite, 7Shift, and other programs.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Minimum of 45 hours per week.
- Valid driver license and ability to travel to café locations.
