About This Position
About the Role:
The Account Manager is the "Trusted Advisor" for our established customer base. They focus on maintaining and growing long-term relationships with electrical contractors and industrial users by providing deep technical expertise and proactive project support.
Pillar 1: Know Your Customer (Relationship & Market Mastery)
- Account Stewardship: Develop and execute a comprehensive account plan that identifies key account pipelines and growth opportunities.
- Loyalty Architecture: Move beyond a "vendor" role by understanding customer project lifecycles and technical requirements.
- Market Intelligence: Act as the voice of the customer by providing feedback on competitor activity and emerging product needs to the Regional and Branch Managers.
Pillar 2: Know Your Business (Operational & Product Excellence)
- Technical Expertise: Maintain expert knowledge of the wire and cable portfolio (RWU90, Electronics, Tray Cable) to provide accurate application support.
- Strategic Sourcing: Proactively leverage approved vendors and the Supplier Network to source non-stock materials for niche project requirements.
- Quote & CRM Discipline: Manage the full lifecycle of every quote—from technical spec to follow-up—directly within the CRM.
Pillar 3: Culture, Values & Strategy (Process & Alignment)
- One-Team Mentality: Work seamlessly with Operations staff, Branch Managers and BDMs to provide a frictionless experience for the customer.
- Operational Integrity: Adhere strictly to company policies, Professional Conduct standards, and the Corporate Quality Assurance Program.
- Value-Added Selling: Identify opportunities where services like custom cutting or kitting can solve customer labor constraints.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in account management.
- Strong understanding of sales processes and customer relationship management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and develop strategic account plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in inside sales or regional sales environments.
- Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools.
- Demonstrated success in new business development and expanding customer accounts.
- Advanced negotiation and presentation skills.
- Relevant industry certifications or experience in the wire and cable industry.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and nurture relationships with accounts to maximize client satisfaction and retention.
- Develop and execute account development strategies to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within assigned territories.
- Collaborate with the branch and sales teams to achieve account goals.
- Monitor account performance metrics and prepare regular reports to communicate progress and forecast future sales.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer accounts, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring timely delivery of products and services.
Skills:
The required skills such as managing accounts, time management, and the ability to multi-task are essential for daily interactions with clients, ensuring their needs are met and opportunities for growth are identified. Account management and account development skills enable the candidate to strategically plan and execute initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and drive revenue. New business development skills are utilized to expand the client base and increase market share within assigned regions. Inside sales expertise support collaboration with internal teams to align sales strategies and achieve targets. Since this position is predominantly a commission-based role, it is critical that you are able to "hunt" and close all opportunities.
