Working hours: Schedule may vary, including weekends

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This role operates, monitors, and maintains high-speed centrifugal machines to separate sugar crystals from molasses or mother liquor. They manage batch or continuous processes by controlling equipment, adjusting settings for optimal production, performing quality checks, and cleaning machines. This role requires handling heavy machinery, strict adherence to safety/sanitation protocols (GMP), and troubleshooting skills to maximize efficiency.

Including the following:

  • Starts, stops, and operates batch or continues centrifugals, including controlling valves, and timers

  • Monitor and control the spinning, washing, and discharging cycles to ensure optimal separation of syrup and molasses sugar crystals

  • Run a centrifuge, operate controls and monitor machine, must be able to change setting on touch screen device

  • Monitor sugar quality, moisture content, and color, making adjustments to the process to meet specifications

  • Performs routine maintenance, lubricates machinery, and cleans the centrifuges (wash downs) to prevent sugar build up

  • Prepare bicarbonate in the assigned location

  • Transfer bicarbonate to liquid plant via forklift

  • In Emergency situations if pipes become clogged, they need to be cleared from sugar accumulation

  • Cleaning department area and plant area as assigned, including sweeping and mopping all floor levels and wipe down

  • Cleaning of magnets of second and fourth floor

  • Cleaning of mesh filters

  • Responsible for Maintenance of Centrifuges and solve problems with related to centrifuge equipment

  • Capabilities to assemble and disassemble, mechanically, electronically, electrically, and pneumatically such as valves, meshes, pneumatic pistons, electrical systems and electronic systems.

  • Position is required to stand more than 8 hours as necessary

  • Position is required to climb stairs daily

  • Required to adhere to all safety procedures

  • Required to wear PPE at all times

  • Performs related and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer, Electromechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.

Compensation Range: $21.00-$25.00

In addition to a competitive salary, roles are eligible for additional compensation and benefits including: vacation time, sick time, bereavement leave, paid holidays and medical benefits and 401(k) savings plan.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what we anticipate to pay for this position, based on internal equity and budget.
