Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. in Johnstown, PA is seeking a skilled and motivated Test Operator to join our second‑shift team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the proper form, fit, and function of completed remote weapon stations, as well as electrical assemblies and sub‑assemblies. Your work will help ensure our products meet strict specifications, quality standards, and production schedules that support our mission in the defense industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform operational test of production components, assemblies, and subassemblies using required software applicable to the product, data sheets, schematics and wire drawings. Follow established test specifications, standard test procedures and fixtures applicable to the product.
- Record and interpret test data; document exceptions or unusual conditions that occur for review/concurrence/modification/acceptance/action to be taken.
- Initiate proper troubleshooting techniques to identify faulty component/assembly/subassembly for repair.
- Align and adjust any portion of a completed system as required using predetermined procedures and policies.
- Investigate and review issues on the weapon station when they occur.
- Some electro-mechanical assembly, mechanical assembly and some sub-assembly operations using basic hand tools and measuring devices following step-by-step work instructions.
- Troubleshooting problems and/or concerns associated with electro-mechanical and mechanical assemblies.
- Communicate with engineering to resolve deficiencies.
- Document deficiencies in company databases.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED equivalent is required; however, an associate's degree is preferred.
- 1-2 years of prior manufacturing production experience, electronics or computer education, or technical/military training in a testing environment is preferred.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiencies, such as using internal computer systems, email and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
- Must be able to work from prints, procedures, assembly diagrams, sketches, schematics and/or verbal-written instructions.
