ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
40% 1. Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks in City offices and buildings (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, masonry, painting, carpentry, etc.); maintains plumbing systems (e.g., snakes pipes, installs faucets, etc.); maintains electrical systems (e.g., replaces broken parts, installs switches and fixtures, mends wiring, etc.); repairs concrete, brickwork, and other masonry; paints trim, walls, cabinets, etc.); builds and installs doors, locks, partitions, paneling, etc.
40% 2. Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with the efficient delivery of City services (e.g., mowing, trimming, general landscape duties, litter pick-up, removal of trash, painting, blacktop patching, etc.); operates and maintains City-owned equipment and vehicles as assigned (e.g., miscellaneous hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, chipper and tree pruners, leaf vac., pickup truck, etc.); assists with the maintenance of the municipal swimming pool; removes snow and ice from city facilities, walkways, and parking areas
5% 3. May perform a variety of custodial tasks to ensure cleanliness of buildings, restrooms, and other facilities (e.g., scrubs, dusts, wet mops, vacuums, strips, sweeps, waxes floors, empties trash, washes walls and windows, shovels, applies salt, etc.); operates power cleaning equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaner, carpet extractor, floor buffing machine, power washer, etc.); inspects and maintains custodial equipment.
5% 4. Opens, closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed; assists with set up and tear down of special events.
5% 5. May perform lead work in the supervision of assigned part-time and seasonal maintenance workers (e.g., schedules and assigns tasks; recommends the hiring of job applicants; recommends discipline; attends or participates in meetings in which policy questions are reviewed or discussed, etc.).
6. Attends meetings and serves on committees, as directed; attends training and seminars, as directed.
7. Maintains required licensure or certification, if any.
8. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable PERRP safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
9. Demonstrates regular, predictable and punctual attendance.

Must possess a valid State of Ohio drivers license and must remain insurable under the Citys vehicle insurance plan; must possess a valid Class A CDL; may require a Pesticide Applicators License; Certified pool operator certification and/or other licenses/certifications based on the needs of the City.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Vandalia Parks and Recreation Department Maintenance Technician position provides an opportunity to gain new skills and certifications, work in a team atmosphere and work with your hands. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of city-owned buildings, parks, grounds and other facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED).
Minimum of several years of hands on building maintenance experience, or any combination of education, training, or experience.
Must possess a valid State of Ohio drivers license and must remain insurable under the Citys vehicle insurance plan.
Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL license one year from date of hire.
May require a Pesticide Applicators License; Certified pool operator certification and/or other licenses/certifications based on the needs of the City.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

SALARY, Hours and Benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is $25.00 - $28.79 an hour, depending on experience. Work hours are Monday Friday from 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.
