About This Position

We are looking to hire a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant. This is a crucial role in managing the city's financial health, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with regulations, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making. The accountant contributes to the responsible management of public funds and plays an important part in the efficient operation of the city. The position assists in planning, organizing and auditing the accounting and financial transactions of the City and works independently to solve complex accounting problems.
Prepares audits of internal functions and procedures including contracts, purchasing, franchise agreements, business licenses, taxes and other financial activities.
Provides general accounting functions, prepares journal entries and ensures accuracy of the general ledger.
Analyzes and reconciles City ledger activities between financial accounting systems.
Prepare basic monthly financial statements of assigned funds and assist in preparations of annual financial report, audit work papers, schedules and statements of assigned funds.
Reconcile and prepare basic financial statements and reports. Assists in preparation of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
Assist in day-to-day banking operations.
Monitors the fixed asset program and the purchasing function.
Compiles information for a variety of narrative and statistical reports.
Reviews vouchers and makes necessary adjustments.
Reconciles bank statements, report discrepancies and problems.
Responds to inquiries of a research or technical nature and prepares copies of documents upon request
and distributes them as directed.
Assists the public, public officials and other employees in a friendly and courteous manner.
Drives to city facilities, vendors, training programs, and meetings as necessary.
