An excellent career opportunity exists in our QA department as Quality Assurance Assistant, reporting to the Production Operations Manager at Pepe’s Ducks.

About the role

The Quality Assurance Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring that all poultry meat products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position involves overseeing quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and implementing quality control measures to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.

Duties include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g. HACCP)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality assurance activities, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, corrective action plans and summary reports for farming division.
  • Review QA Monitoring Forms, Prepare and present quality reports to management, highlighting key metrics, findings, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with production and processing teams to foster a culture and clear communication of quality and ensure understanding of quality standards.
  • Working closely with the QA Officers conducting operational on Production line quality checks.
  • Stay informed about changes in food safety regulations and industry standards, ensuring the company’s practices remain compliant.
  • Oversee product sampling and testing procedures to ensure that products meet quality specifications and safety standards.
  • Drive Good Manufacturing Practices, cleaning and sanitation throughout the Processing Factory
  • Collaborate with external laboratories for microbiological testing, nutritional analysis, and other quality assessments.
  • Daily pre-operational checks monitoring plant hygiene.
  • Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in quality assurance processes and overall product quality.

The ideal candidate: Experience and formal qualifications in food safety / HACCP in a manufacturing environment or Principles and Applications of HACCP certificate or willing to obtain.

This role would ideally suit an experienced QA Line Operator who is looking to take a step higher within the QA Department. The ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team as well as a current driver’s license and flexibility with hours worked is a must.
