Financial Planning & Tax Intern

Overview

Heritage Wealth Advisors seeks highly motivated interns to provide support for our Financial Planning & Tax team and assist in serving Heritage’s high net-worth individual and family clients. The internship will focus on our tax preparation and tax planning services. Interns will participate in comprehensive training and will work closely with the Wealth Advisors and other senior members of our team. Based on performance, the internship has the potential to expand in scope to other services, including Investment Management and Financial Planning/Wealth Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • (Spring Specific) Prepare individual, fiduciary, and pass-through entity income tax returns and complete electronic workpapers.
  • (Spring Specific) Assist with tax planning strategies for clients and coordinate estimated tax payments.
  • Assist Administrative department with scanning and processing of tax returns.
  • Assist Wealth Advisors in the preparation of client meetings and client proposals with the potential to participate in and document these meetings.
  • Draft client communications including e-mail, telephone, and written correspondence.
  • Update and maintain client communications, tasks, and appointments in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Support the Heritage team with day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate, junior or senior year students in relevant subjects (ie: accounting, finance, economics, additional fields of study for consideration).
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Minimum commitment of 15-20 hours a week, in-person, with opportunity for additional hours.
  • In-person work required in our Richmond, VA, office.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Intellectually curious, organized, excellent analytical, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a desire to work collaboratively.
