The Occupational Therapist (OT) will develop, improve, or restore skills in activities of daily living, work or productive activities for patients. The OT will be responsible for evaluation data, identifying diagnosis, and developing a comprehensive plan of care. The OT will develop and update appropriate plan of care with the context of the patient's age, total needs perspective and environment in mind. The OT will select and administer appropriate assessment and treatment techniques, follow intervention protocols and revise interventions appropriately, establish for continuing services/follow up as needed, and discharge patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is no longer indicated. The OT will initiate patient and family education in a timely manner, utilize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, and adapting program appropriately, document patient care timely manner with documentation being concise, and pertinent.
