Summary:

The Public Safety Dispatcher must have the ability to successfully multi-task in a variety of situations. The dispatcher has close contact with local law enforcement agency dispatchers, particularly during incidents that require professional medical or law enforcement intervention. The dispatcher provides detailed incident information to local authorities in order to assist in coordinating police, fire, and ambulatory response. The dispatcher maintains daily logs of activity throughout the property, including the issuance of keys, temporary badges, service calls for the maintenance department, and assisting with employee paycheck distribution. The dispatcher monitors all non-gaming cameras for suspicious activity, receives all visitor entry requests into Tribal Housing areas, and monitors/resets the fire alarm panel when activated.

Essential Dispatcher Responsibilities:

  • Issues radios to Public Safety Officers at the beginning of the shift.
  • Logs/tracks officer escorts in casino and resort areas.
  • Records known contacts and associates of patrons that have been excluded from the property.
  • Notifies local police and/or sheriff’s office of incidents requiring assistance.
  • Informs emergency first responders in case of fire, presence of unauthorized persons, or other foreseen emergencies.
  • Contact 911 operators during emergencies, providing them with details of the incident, including the location of occurrence, to guide paramedics and other responders to proper entrances.
  • Issues daily report numbers to officers when an incident report is required (medical aids, exclusions, employee injuries, theft, vandalism, etc.).
  • Maintains logs to record the issuance of keys, temporary employee badges, and calls requesting service from the maintenance staff.
  • Promotes superior customer service.
  • Monitors radioactivity and silent alarm system, resetting alarm panel when needed.
  • Receives and records incoming and outgoing calls on telephone and radio.
  • Dispatches appropriate staff and equipment during routine & emergency calls.
  • Monitors, checks, and approves outside gate access into the Tribal Housing area (vendors, work crews, etc.).
  • Issues keys to casino & resort personnel and maintains logs tracking this activity.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training as a condition of employment.
  • Must follow departmental and company policy to set the example as a public safety dispatcher.

Requirements:
  • Experience as a public safety/security dispatcher is preferred.
  • Must have customer service skills/experience and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have command of the English language and be computer literate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Employees working in the Casino or Bowling Center may be exposed to second-hand smoke and moderate levels of noise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet/or humid conditions and extreme cold (air conditioning) or extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts. The Casino is a gaming facility and is not a smoke-free environment.
