The Sports Center Custodian will work directly to ensure the Sports Center’s state of cleanliness and
appearance is always at its highest level throughout the entire building while paying special attention to all
public areas such as lobbies, corridors, mezzanines, and all public restrooms.
We are looking for adaptable team members who thrive in a dynamic environment, with availability to work flexible shifts across mornings, rotating weekends and occasional evening shifts to support team coverage.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include,
but are not limited to:
- Daily building walk-through inspections to determine the state of cleanliness throughout the buildings key common areas.
- Perform general facility upkeep and cleaning daily to provide a safe and clean environment.
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Performs heavy cleaning duties.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
- Gathers and empties trash and recycling containers.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities to include toilettes, sinks, counters and mirrors.
- Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
- Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
- Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
- Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Drives scrubbers, power sweepers and extractors carefully and efficiently to keep all floors clean and free from any debris.
- Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Washes, dries and sorts all cleaning rags, mop heads and dust mops.
- Maintains and cleans all powered and manual cleaning equipment on a daily basis to ensure equipment is in top shape at all times.
- Oversee part-time staff on evening and weekend shifts.
- Performing related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Works well independently and has strong time management skills possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and cleaning solutions
- Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
- Communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Accepted education and experience are as follows:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One + years of cleaning experience preferred.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
