About the role

As the Medical Director for the Bethel University Physician Assistant Program, you will report directly to the Program Director and serve as an essential department staff member with adjunct faculty privileges. Your primary focus will be providing active advocacy, leadership, and support for the program. This includes leading the development, strategic changes, and comprehensive review of the program curriculum and student competencies to ensure they continuously align with current medical practices and rigorous accreditation standards.

In this role, you will play a vital part in Bethel’s mission to educate and equip students in a Christ-centered community. As a key partner in our department, you serve as a minister of the gospel by helping prepare compassionate, highly skilled PA students to lead lives of impact in the medical field.

This role is Part-Time and the salary range is $28,500 - $31,000

What you'll do

Curriculum & Competency Development - 30%

Help in the development, change, and review of the program curriculum and competencies, and update the program curriculum and competencies as needed, in association with the program director

Program Advocacy & Community Relations - 20%

Serve as an advocate of the PA program through connections with medical institutions and the medical community, assisting with faculty recruitment when needed.

Program Evaluation & Self Study - 20%

Participate in program evaluation through the program’s self-study process, including the review and refinement of program mission and goals

Admissions Support & Faculty Recruitment - 10%

Advise and assist with the admissions process for PA students and with faculty recruitment

Didactic & Clinical Instruction Support - 10%

Assist with the didactic and clinical education component of the program as needed with teaching, grading exams, and providing lectures

Clinical Partnership & Site Development - 10%

Advocate for clinical preceptorships through connections with medical institutions and the medical community, participating in clinical site visits as needed

Qualifications

Required Education

Graduate of an accredited medical school and medical residency program.

Currently licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician in Minnesota.

Currently certified by an ABMS or AOA approved specialty board.

Required Experience

10+ years of experience practicing as a physician

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in higher education.

Demonstrated strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with the university community, medical community and general audiencesStrong networking ability to build, foster, and maintain relationshipsWorking knowledge of the Twin Cities medical community.Strong organizational skillsStrong attention to detail

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Expected Hours of Work:

Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 8 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
