We are currently looking for a Buyer, Reporting to the Manager, Procurement Operations. The Buyer will be responsible for placing purchase orders in a timely manner and delivering materials, at the correct price and in accordance with technical requirements.

- Prepare quotes and purchase orders for parts
- Process requests for supplies, research products, clarify specifications, document calls for tenders, write purchase orders
- Negotiate the needs for pre-production samples, spare parts, customized technical documentation
- Facilitate and ensure the steady progress to the completion of a project through the efficient movement of materials, freight, etc. in our systems
- Ensure that the required goods arrive on the scheduled date, in the agreed quality and at the agreed location
- Be thorough in the processing, shipping and delivery of orders, and make special arrangements for delivery; communicate order status to project management
- Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships, evaluate supplier performance, use different supplier sources to fill needs as per guidelines
- Dealing with vendors and manufacturers, which often involves persuading potential vendors to undertake the manufacture of custom-designed items to complex and rigid specifications
- Maintain a tracking system to control ongoing order changes, and supplier ODTs
- Addressing vendor discrepancies
- Anticipating and managing risks
- Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departments such as planning, quality, production engineering and project management.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of purchasing experience with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), ideally in the field of machined components, forgings, castings, and fasteners
- Knowledge of machining and the ability to understand drawings and specifications are essential
- Experience with MRP and Microsoft Office environment
- Good knowledge of Word and Excel
- Good knowledge of French and English, spoken and written (bilingualism)
- Familiarity with material specifications such as ASTM
- Good negotiation skills
- Organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
