Crossing Guard (Arrival and Dismissal) in Allentown, Pennsylvania at Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School

Schedule: Monday-Thursday (School Year)

Coverage Hours:
Morning: 7:15 AM-8:45 AM (90 minutes)
Afternoon: 2:15 PM-3:45 PM (90 minutes)

Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School (LLACS) is seeking dependable, safety-focused, and community-minded individuals to serve as Crossing Guards during student arrival and dismissal. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe movement of students, families, and staff in designated crosswalks and traffic areas while providing a welcoming presence that reflects the school's commitment to leadership, respect, and service.

Crossing Guards are an important part of creating a safe and positive school environment and serve as ambassadors for the LLACS community.

Essential Responsibilities
Safely assist students, families, and pedestrians in crossing designated streets and intersections before and after school.

Monitor and direct pedestrian traffic while following established traffic safety procedures.

Promote safe crossing practices and reinforce pedestrian safety with students.

Observe vehicle traffic and assist with maintaining an orderly flow during arrival and dismissal.

Maintain a visible, attentive, and professional presence at assigned crossing locations.

Communicate courteously with students, parents, visitors, and staff.

Report unsafe conditions, traffic concerns, accidents, or incidents to school administration immediately.

Assist with student supervision in designated arrival and dismissal areas as needed.

Work collaboratively with school administrators and local public safety officials when necessary.

Perform other related duties assigned to support safe school operations.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred but not required.
Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain alert, calm, and make sound decisions in changing traffic conditions.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Ability to interact respectfully with students, families, staff, and community members.
Must successfully obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania background clearances.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the school year.
Ability to communicate clearly with pedestrians and motorists.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally if needed.
