Metal Fabrication Shop Operations Lead
Location: Hanover, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Starting Pay: From $35.00 per hour, with higher pay available depending on experience.
Overtime: Overtime opportunities available.
We are looking for an experienced Metal Fabrication Shop Operations Lead to oversee the daily activities of a miscellaneous metals fabrication department. This position is responsible for leading shop personnel, coordinating production, maintaining quality standards, supporting workplace safety, and ensuring projects move efficiently through fabrication.
The successful candidate will work closely with operations leadership to meet production schedules, maximize efficiency, and maintain a safe, organized fabrication environment.
Primary ResponsibilitiesShop Operations- Direct daily miscellaneous metals fabrication activities.
- Carry out production schedules and shifting priorities established by operations leadership.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and workflow to keep production running efficiently.
- Monitor work progress and provide regular production updates.
- Oversee fitting, welding, assembly, and material handling throughout the shop.
- Supervise fitters, welders, machine operators, and shop laborers.
- Support employee training, coaching, and performance development.
- Lead daily production and safety meetings.
- Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and efficient labor utilization.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and accountability across the fabrication team.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Verify work meets quality standards, fabrication tolerances, and project specifications.
- Address production issues and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Maintain housekeeping and shop organization standards.
- Work with Quality Control personnel to resolve inspection findings and quality concerns.
- Monitor the condition and readiness of fabrication equipment.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair activities with management.
- Help maintain material inventory, consumables, and proper storage practices.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to increase shop efficiency and organization.
- Track labor hours, productivity, operational efficiency, and rework.
- Monitor schedule performance and production output.
- Participate in KPI reviews and operational planning meetings.
- Assist with manpower planning and production forecasting.
Work closely with multiple departments, including:

- 5–10 years of experience in miscellaneous metals fabrication.
- Previous experience as a foreman, supervisor, lead, or other fabrication leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of miscellaneous metals fabrication processes and shop workflow.
- Experience coordinating labor, production schedules, and fabrication operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of fabrication safety practices and quality standards.
- Starting pay from $35.00 per hour, with higher pay available depending on experience.
