Job Title: Admission Clerk
Location: Laramie – Building B
Department: Front Desk/Appointments
Report To: Patient Access Manager
Job Summary
Performs customer service and related clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient and effective function of the Surgery Center in Building B.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Communication
- Greet patient when they arrive for appointments; perform check-in procedure, including verification of patient’s demographic and contact information
- Answer phone calls, take messages and/or attempt to answer inquiries
- Help patients sign consents and ABNs
- Take temperatures if indicated
Taking Payments
- Take payments securely following billing office protocol
Insurance
- Obtain correct insurance company information such as Workers’ Compensation vs. commercial insurance, including telephone numbers and policy numbers from system.
Pre-Certification/Pre-Authorization
- Contact insurance companies to obtain pre-certification for all outpatient surgical procedures, inpatient surgical procedures, short-stays, MRI and CT scans, and injections, if required by the insurance plan.
Insurance Benefits
- Obtain insurance benefit information and calculate pre-surgical payments for all surgical procedures performed at all locations and for all MRIs performed at Premier Bone and Joint Centers' locations.
Patient Documentation
- Locate and prepare patient charts for the next-day surgeries, create charts for new patients, and maintain patients charts
- Enter patient charts into database
Interaction with Other Departments
- Facilitate communication between physicians, medical staff, and surgery center staff

- Observes confidentiality of information in regards to patients, physicians, therapists, and fellow employees. Protect patient sensitivities and right to privacy

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Required
