Position Title: QA/QC Manager Mechanical

Location:Richmond, VA

Compensation: $60-$67 per hour | Per Diem: $4,515 | Hourly W2 Full Time | OT after 40 hours | Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental | 

Position Overview

The QA/QC Manager Mechanical role is a core leadership position within Halo’s quality service delivery team. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing mechanical quality assurance and quality control activities across construction projects, ensuring consistent compliance with contractual, regulatory, and owner requirements. This position serves as a key link between field execution and program-level quality governance, providing oversight of mechanical inspections, documentation, system readiness, and issue resolution while enforcing established QA/QC processes and driving continuous improvement across the project.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage mechanical QC programs, including project-specific QC plans, ITPs, and inspection procedures Establish mechanical quality standards, acceptance criteria, and inspection requirements for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems Lead QC personnel including mechanical inspectors, leads, and QC foremen Ensure all mechanical installations comply with drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements Oversee mechanical inspections, pressure testing, flushing, balancing, and system verification activities Manage non-conformance processes including identification, disposition, corrective action, and closure Coordinate with AHJs, commissioning teams, and project stakeholders on mechanical compliance and approvals Track and report quality metrics including mechanical deficiencies, inspection completion, and NCR trends Oversee mechanical QA/QC documentation systems, workflows, and reporting standards Identify mechanical system risks and implement mitigation strategies Support commissioning, startup, and functional testing of mechanical systems Manage turnover documentation including test reports, balancing reports, as-builts, and closeout packages Develop QC staffing plans, budgets, and resource forecasts for mechanical scope Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on mechanical installation quality and system performance Maintain strong collaboration with field teams, project management, and subcontractors

Required Experience & Qualifications

3–5 years of mechanical inspection or mechanical construction quality experience 1–2 years of supervisory or management experience OSHA 30 certification prior to site arrival Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation practices, and code compliance Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications Experience with mechanical testing, inspections, and commissioning support Strong documentation, communication, and leadership skills High attention to detail with a field-focused mindset Ability to work independently in fast-paced construction environments Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience on large-scale industrial or mission-critical mechanical projects Experience with commissioning, TAB (testing, adjusting, balancing), and system startup Familiarity with QC/document control platforms (ACC, Procore, Cx Alloy, etc.) Experience developing mechanical ITPs, QC plans, and inspection workflows Experience leading mechanical QC teams or field inspection crews Exposure to Lean Construction or continuous improvement practices
